Coastal Protection and wetlands info from MODL

Who to contact for questions about coastal Protection at MODL:

  • Call the planning department to ask any questions or find out if an address has been granted a permit

  • Planning line:902 530-2802 (6 people who have access the line so someone will answer and if they don’t have the answer, they will find someone that does)


Wetlands:

  • MODL is NOT in charge of these areas as it’s Provincially regulated.

  • Call the Department of Environment: (902) 543-4685 Bridgewater location.

  • Anyone can go in there and speak with them directly as well, though inspectors are not always in the office.


What the Town can tell citizens who call in:

  • If we have the PID or CIVIC address, they can only say if there is a CURRENT permit issued.

  • No other information is given out.


Does the permit need to be posted on site:

  • Development permit, does NOT need to be posted on site

  • Building permit MUST be posted on the site and SHOULD be visible to the public.


Selling or Purchasing Land:

  • Contact MODL and they will write up a formal zoning letter from the town that will be part of the listing or real estate purchase agreement for a fee.
